The new BMW i8 coupe may boast an impressive combined fuel economy of 2.1l/100 km (equal to 111.2mpg US or 134.5mpg UK) on the EU test cycle for as long as the battery has juice in it, but with a starting price of $135,700 (plus delivery) in the States, €126,000 in Germany and £99,125 in the UK, it's not like you hit the money-saving jackpot.
